Dr. Nimisha Mehta Leads Neonatal Ultrasound Workshop

July 17, 2025

On July 17, 2025, students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at AIMS Education had the opportunity to participate in an interactive guest lecture and hands-on workshop led by Dr. Nimisha Mehta, a board-certified radiologist and experienced educator in ultrasound imaging.

Dr. Mehta’s presentation focused on ultrasound applications in neonatal care, with an emphasis on head, spine, and hip imaging. She provided a detailed overview of sonographic techniques and interpretation, guiding students through common neonatal pathologies and clinical scenarios. Her lecture emphasized the importance of precision, patient safety, and real-time imaging.

During the hands-on portion of the session, students practiced neonatal hip and brain ultrasound techniques using simulation phantoms. Under Dr. Mehta’s guidance, they identified key anatomical landmarks, refined their probe positioning, and strengthened their practical scanning skills.

Dr. Mehta also demonstrated ultrasound-guided procedures in the simulation lab, including thoracentesis and breast biopsy. Using procedural phantoms, she highlighted best practices for needle guidance, image optimization, and real-time technique, offering students valuable exposure to interventional ultrasound applications.

The session was both educational and engaging, giving students a deeper understanding of pediatric and procedural ultrasonography. AIMS Education extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Mehta for her continued support of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and for sharing her expertise with our students.
