Background and Experience at AIMS

Being a single mother in the middle of a pandemic was a terrifying experience. I lost my job, my home, and all sense of stability. I knew I needed to get back into the workforce, but I needed to find a career, and not just another job. I was the sole provider for my family, and not having a college degree really limited my options for finding a suitable and stable career.

With the medical field growing and creating more and more job opportunities, I decided to look into AIMS Education. AIMS offers many healthcare programs with day, night, and weekend class options. I realized the medical billing and coding program was something I was interested in and decided to go for it.

After being out of school for over a decade, starting school again seemed intimidating. Thankfully, my instructor Meenu was very patient and knowledgeable. The course was fast paced and a lot of information to learn, but with support from AIMS I never fell behind. Towards the end of the program we used everything we learned in class to complete the lab training and prepare for the internship.

Success after Graduation

During the internship I received hands-on training which further prepared me for my new career path. After completing the internship I was offered a position at my internship site. After a year of being unemployed, I am now employed with Genpsych as a medical biller. It was such an accomplishment especially after months of hard work. It was nice to see it all pay off. After completing my CBCS certification exam from NHA, I hope to gather more experience as a medical biller and eventually become a coder. I can't thank the staff of AIMS enough for changing my life! Thank you!
