Ms. Dail Desouza, a perinatal sonographer from the Robert Wood Johnson Antenatal Unit, will speak to current DMS students at AIMS Education on March 19th. Her guest lecture will cover the process and protocol of scanning in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department of a hospital. Some of the topics she will cover include:
- The scanning aspect of the 1st and 2nd trimester.
- How to evaluate fetal scanning from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. Including: Cranial anatomy, facial profile, and thoracic abdomen, extremities to rule out polydactyl, club foot etc… and gender.
- Situs and how to evaluate if it is normal or abnormal by scanning the stomach and 4 chamber heart.
- Nuchal Translucency, three vessel cord and how to evaluate blood tests.
Ms. DeSouza has been a regular guest speaker for the DMS program at AIMS Education. She enjoys teaching and never fails to give great insight and knowledge to our students and their future as sonographers.
