CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) – Student Aid
AIMS Education acknowledges that it has signed the Funding Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students and returned to the U.S. Department of Education under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The Certification and Agreement directs each institution to comply with Section 18004(e) of the CARES Act and publish following information in a format and location easily accessible to the public 30 days after the date when the institution received its allocation under 18004(a)(1) and updated every 45 days thereafter. This is the 3rd update, AIMS Education provides with the following information:
- An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
AIMS Education has signed and returned to the Department the certification and agreement. AIMS Education has distributed the HEERF Grants to students, and intends to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
- The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
AIMS Education has received $138,143 towards HEERF Grant to Students.
- The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter).

$24,714.58 – Balance of funds authorized under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act are transferred to HEERF II - CRRSAA Funding for distribution to eligible students on 03/06/2021.
- The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
There are approximately 300 undergraduate students attending classes as on 05/08/2020 and are considered eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

- The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Eligible Students
Students eligible to file a FAFSA and attending programs at AIMS Education as on the date we received these funds, i.e. 05/08/2020 were considered eligible to receive these grant funds. The eligibility to file a FAFSA includes but are not limited to the following: U.S. citizenship or eligible noncitizen; a valid Social Security number; registration with Selective Service (if the student is male); and a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and not defaulted or overpaid under any of the federal student aid programs.
Methods used to determine Awards
Direct Award - AIMS Education will use the distribution method based on Cost of Attendance factors. The COVID grant award for each eligible student shall be equal to 3.50% of the weighted average of indirect cost of attendance (COA) for 2019-2020 Award Year used by financial aid department in need analyses. The minimum award shall be $200. The weighted COA is calculated by averaging dependent and independent student’s monthly COA, multiplied by number of months in the full length academic year in each program of enrollment. The award calculation for each eligible program is demonstrated as below.
Students in this group need to submit their attestation form to receive funds; they will receive notification of the award amount with request via their email account. Student will also have option to opt out from this disbursement in case they wish to pass these funds to other students who are in greater need of assistance.
Disbursements - Awarded funds & disbursements will be recorded on student accounts as “HEERF Grant” and paid via paper check to be mailed to the student.
Shortfall - AIMS Education will add shortfall if any, to the pool from Institutional part of CARES Act funding.
Additional Assistance - Remaining CARES Act Emergency financial grant funds, if any, will be set aside for eligible students to access through an application process. Students in this group must have filed a FAFSA or be eligible to file a FAFSA. Students in this category must complete the application form and will be notified of their award via email on record. The application and award process will be on first come first served basis until funds exhausted.
Factors such as job loss, childcare or medical expenses, housing or food insecurity, an inability to pay for educational supplies, technology need, or expenses due to campus shut down due to COVID-19 outbreak will be considered.
Maximum amount students can receive under category will be $750, subject to available funds after distribution under first category. Funds awarded and disbursed will be recorded on student accounts as “HEERF Grant” and paid via paper check which will be mailed to the student.
Eligibility - Financial Aid administrator may review student’s eligibilities to participate in federal student aid programs from the information on student files and waive FAFSA requirements. Student should not be at default with any of the federal student aid programs.

First come first serve - Funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Ensure timely submission of your requests with all required documents. Incomplete forms will be processed only after all required documents are received.

Note: W.E.F. publication of interim final rule on June 17, 2020, students enrolled in “other programs” mentioned above are not eligible to receive HEERF funds.
- Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
- Eligible Students were notified of their award amount and requested to complete their attestation of compliance with current mailing address.
- Each eligible students who did not completed their attestations in first round were called to remind them to complete the online attestation of compliance form.
- Explanation of the availability of HEERF Funds and distribution process was updated on important news section of the financial aid home page of Aims Education’s website.
