Staying Ahead of Industry Standards to Prepare the Next Generation of Certified Pharmacy Technicians

AIMS Education College of Health Sciences Pharmacy Technician program is always prepared to stay above the curve when it comes to educating our enrolled students. WE DIDN’T WAIT!

Proactively Integrating the 2026 PTCB Exam Changes

In response to the changes the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) implemented for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) beginning January 2026, our curriculum has already integrated the new content domains, knowledge reference areas, and therapeutic agents (medications)!

Our students ALWAYS come first!

A Comprehensive, Flexible, and Career-Focused Program

The Pharmacy Technician Program is a 5-month, 330 hour, 100% fully remote education, that includes 15 hours of simulations and 210 hours of on-site (in the field) clinical internship. We educate and prepare future pharmacy technicians for PTCB National Certification and follow individual state guidelines for licensure.

Our clinical affiliations for internships range from independently owned (retail), institutional (hospitals), mass merchandisers (Target, Walmart, Costco), chain (Walgreens, CVS), on-line and long-term care pharmacies. This enables our future pharmacy technicians to gain valuable hands-on experience, which can include inventorying, filling, following the DSCSA regulations of traceability, cart fills, IV and compounding protocols, unit dosing or any other task an educated pharmacy technician can perform to better serve the clinical site.

What’s Changing on the PTCE?

Although our students still will get an overview of the exam content that was removed (see bullets below), the emphasis for the 2026 PTCB-PTCE updated content is continuing to focus on medication errors and how to eliminate.

So……..what’s new on the PTCE?

  • Expanded focus on federal requirements, guidelines for processing & dispensing
  • Clear understanding of Fraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA)-especially traceability
  • Updated content on Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA)
  • Updated exam weighting on content domains & knowledge references
  • Removal of Allegation calculations, non-sterile compounding, Narrow Therapeutic Index (NTI)

Building Confident, Ethical, and Highly Skilled Pharmacy Technicians

Future pharmacy technicians who are educated confidently will benefit the community, serve the profession ethically and continue to remain a trusted and valued health care professional. Our program at AIMS Education College of Health Sciences prides itself on building that confidence, using education as a foundation.
