Emily Fowler
Background and Experience at AIMS
Emily Fowler's journey into healthcare began with a background in public health, but she soon realized her true passion lay in a more hands-on role. Her experience in healthcare administration and hospitality provided a strong foundation, yet it was the field of sterile processing that captivated her interest. This field allowed her to combine her clinical interests with a commitment to improving patient outcomes behind the scenes.
Seeking a structured pathway into this specialized area, Emily enrolled in the Sterile Processing Technician program at AIMS Education. She found the program's hands-on instruction and real-world exposure invaluable. "Every interaction with staff was supportive and informative," she says. Emily particularly appreciated the opportunity to tour a real sterile processing department, which deepened her understanding of the field. Her instructor's extensive field experience helped her build a strong foundation, enabling her to memorize over 120 surgical instruments by the end of the program.
Emily's clinical internship at JFK University Medical Center provided her with practical experience, allowing her to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. This hands-on training was crucial in preparing her for the demands of the sterile processing department.
Success After Graduation
Upon completing her internship, Emily was hired full-time at JFK University Medical Center's sterile processing department. She credits AIMS Education for thoroughly preparing her and giving her the confidence to step into her role.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the support I received and excited to keep growing in my career," she says. For Emily, what began as uncertainty has led to a fulfilling and impactful role in healthcare.
