Bhumika Soni

Background and Experience at AIMS

With previous experience as a Medical Assistant, Bhumika developed a strong appreciation for compassionate patient care and the importance of dependable healthcare professionals. Her experience working closely with patients helped her recognize the impact healthcare workers can have on people's lives. As she explored her interests in healthcare, she became increasingly drawn to pharmacy, a field that allowed her to build on her existing knowledge while developing new skills in medication safety and pharmaceutical care.

Bhumika enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician program at AIMS Education, where she gained the knowledge and practical training necessary to pursue a career in pharmacy. Throughout the program, she studied medication safety, pharmacy calculations, prescription processing, and the responsibilities of pharmacy technicians in supporting pharmacists and patients. Her education also helped her strengthen essential skills, including reading prescriptions, interpreting medication labels, and communicating accurately in a pharmacy setting.

Her clinical experience at an infusion and specialty pharmacy gave her valuable insight into how the knowledge she gained in the classroom is applied in a real healthcare environment. Through this experience, she developed a deeper understanding of the attention to detail, responsibility, and patient-centered approach required in pharmacy practice.

Bhumika's journey back into the workforce was especially meaningful. After stepping away from her career for ten years to raise her children, returning to school and pursuing a new professional path presented challenges. However, her determination to begin a new chapter in healthcare helped her find the confidence to move forward. She is especially grateful to Professor Dave Oldenhage, whose encouragement, guidance, and genuine support played an important role in her journey. His belief in her potential helped her regain confidence in herself and recognize that pursuing her goals was possible, even after a significant career break.

Success After Graduation

After graduating from AIMS, Bhumika achieved an important milestone by securing a position as a Pharmacy Technician at RWJBarnabas Health. In this role, she applies the knowledge and skills she developed through her education and clinical experience while continuing to grow professionally in the pharmacy field.

Her transition into the workforce represents not only a career accomplishment but also the culmination of a personal journey marked by perseverance, dedication, and renewed confidence. By returning to school after ten years away from the workforce, Bhumika demonstrated that it is never too late to pursue new opportunities and work toward meaningful professional goals.

Looking ahead, Bhumika plans to continue expanding her pharmacy experience, pursue additional certifications, and advance her career in the field. Her journey reflects the value of lifelong learning, the importance of supportive educators, and the determination required to turn a new beginning into a rewarding career. Through her continued growth at RWJBarnabas Health, she looks forward to building on her foundation in pharmacy and contributing to the safe and effective care of patients.
