Be The Match - Bone Marrow Donation Presentation
On Tuesday, May 22nd from 11:00am to 12:00pm, Lauren Hero from The Icla da Silva Foundation will be visiting the AIMS Education Edison Center to discuss bone marrow donation. She will be educating our students about the need for bone marrow donors and the donation process. The Icla da Silva Foundation is a recruitment center for Be The Match. Be The Match operates the national marrow registry for patients with blood diseases – such as Leukemia and Lymphoma – who are in need of a marrow transplant. Each year, 14,000 patients who do not have a match within their family turn to Be The Match to help find an unrelated donor.
The goal of the presentation is to spread awareness about the disparities that stand for cancer patients, shed light on myths about the donations process, and sign up new donors. Mrs. Hero will also be sharing patient and donor stories! To learn more information please visit www.icla.org. If you would like to register to become a donor prior to May 22nd please join online at: join.bethematch.org/aimsSaves.
