Background and Experience at AIMS
I am grateful for the experiences I had and the opportunities that were open to me at AIMS. I learned the basic skills I needed to operate as a pharmacy technician, which included the knowledge of brand and generic medications, along with training on how to calculate the day, dose, and duration of prescribed medicine.
The training also gave me an edge over other pharmacy technicians by including skills in compounding medications and preparing intravenous solutions. In addition, I feel that the personal experience of my instructor is something that cannot be learned in a textbook. The real-life stories that were told really brought everything full circle. Rather than simply learning knowledge, we learned about real-world situations in which we could apply that knowledge.
Success after Graduation
Since graduating from AIMS, I passed the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam and became a certified pharmacy technician. Recently, I accepted a position as a pharmacy technician in a long-term care pharmacy in Morganville, NJ.
