Graduate Spotlight

Melissa Drust

Melissa Drust, a recent graduate from the Medical Assistant program, is well on her way to a successful career in healthcare. Before joining AIMS, however, Melissa had been the School Director of a non-profit preschool for nearly 15 years. When her school closed due to low funding, she saw the silver lining in her situation and decided to pursue a career change.

Melissa knew she enjoyed helping people, but she needed a more stable career. When she started searching for her future career, it didn’t take long before she turned to healthcare. She’d always had a strong interest in the medical field, and now she finally had the opportunity to explore that interest. The first step was to find an institution that would best suit her needs. After visiting a number of schools, AIMS quickly became her top choice. What impressed her most about AIMS was the professionalism of the staff and the overall organization of the school.

In addition to her positive attitude, Melissa was nominated for the Graduate Spotlight due to her strong work ethic and academic performance. During her time at AIMS she was able to thrive in the hands-on training environment. She formed new friendships with her classmates and learned valuable skills that will serve her well into the future.

"At AIMS I became confident in my knowledge of the medical field and the skills I learned."

When discussing her experience at AIMS, Melissa made a point to praise the Director of Admissions, Ashni Patel. Ms. Patel guided her through the initial enrollment process, and continued to offer her support and assistance throughout her time at AIMS.

After completing her clinical internship at the Center for Advanced Reproductive Medicine & Fertility in Edison, Melissa received three job offers. She accepted a position with the dual role of Medical Assistant and Patient Advocate at IVY Pediatrics.

The future looks bright for Melissa Drust. Her passion has always been working with children and helping families. After 15 years working with children in the education sector, she is now ready to continue her passion in the medical field.
